Measuring Guides

Measuring instructions by mount

Inside Mount

  1. To measure for window blinds, you should measure the width of the inside of the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom. Once you have these measurements, you should choose the narrowest of the three, and round it down to the nearest 1/8 inch. This ensures that your blinds will fit snugly inside the window opening and operate smoothly.
  2. To measure for window blinds, you should measure the height inside the window opening from the top of the window opening to the window sill three times. Measure once on the left, at the center, and on the right, and select the longest of the three measurements. If you prefer your blind not to rest on the sill, you should deduct 1/4 inch from the height measurement. In case your window doesn’t have a sill, measure to the point where you would like the blind to reach.
  3. To ensure optimal light control and privacy, it’s important to measure the window on the diagonal. If you find that the two diagonal dimensions differ significantly, you may need to order an outside mount for your blinds. Detailed measuring instructions can be found on the left side to guide you in taking the appropriate measurements.
  4. When measuring for an inside mount window blind, there’s no need to take any allowances on the height or width of the window. The factory will take care of all necessary allowances for mounting and operating clearance, ensuring that your blinds fit perfectly inside the window opening.

Outside Mount

  1. When measuring for window blinds, it’s important to measure the distance between the outermost points you would like the blind to cover. To minimize light leakage and ensure maximum privacy, the blind should overlap the window opening by at least 1 1/2 inches on each side, for a total of 3 inches on the entire width. .
  2. To measure for window blinds, you should determine the distance between where the top of the blind will be located and the window sill. The blind should overlap the top of the window opening by at least 1-1/2 inches to ensure adequate coverage. However, some products may require more than 1-1/2 inches above the window for mounting hardware. It’s important to review the product specifications of your desired blind to determine the exact flat vertical surface area requirements. If the flat vertical surface area exceeds 1-1/2 inches, use the specified amount to calculate the overlap above the window opening. If your window doesn’t have a sill, measure to the point where you want the blind to reach.
